Mica Shift Hearts

Mica Shift Hearts
Originally uploaded by coltpixy

These are made using a technique called mica shift. I love this because it looks 3 dimensional yet it is not. The pieces are smooth as glass. I made 15 of these to list on Art Fire but they all sold locally yesterday when friends dropped by and saw them and called more friends. Today I am going to make more so I can list them.
Google "mica shift" and you will find a great YouTube tutorial fully explaining the technique and its origins.
The two here were never for sale. The burnt orange one I made for my sister and the pink one is for my mom.

Favorite Tool of the Week

Conditioning polymer clay is done much faster with the help of a cheap pasta machine. Makes the job easier on the hands too.
