Wish Bottles

Photographing dark purple is proving difficult for me. It looks almost black in the photo. I have tried different settings, different backgrounds. Nothing is working for me. The other colors look true to life just not the purple.

Miniature Mask from the beginning

For masks I start with wire mesh armature. Ignore the doll armature holding it she is for a different project I am about to start.

Then I mix my clay color and apply it to the wire mesh making sure there are no air bubbles trapped inside. To achieve the shade of gold that I wanted I mixed gold and silver Kato clays. I really like the resulting color.

Once the mesh is completely covered then the fun starts. Here it is ready to go in the oven to cure.

After curing I put on a couple of coats of a polymer clay safe polycrylic finish.

Don't miss this great deal!

I have had a shop on ArtFire since 2008. The tools are great and the customer service is awesome. Moving my shop there was the best decision I ever made. Right now you can opt in on a deal to have your own shop on ArtFire for only $5.95 a month. No listing fees, no commission fees, just $5.95 a month! No limits on the tools you can use or how many items you can list. You can read more about this deal here.

To get the deal only 20,000 current or new shops must sign-up for it. No money will change hands until the minimum has been met and there is a cap of 50,000 total shops at this price so don't miss out on it. work in progress shot of sea monster

I showed daily work in progress photos on plurk of the sea monster I am making, Taking a daily work in progress photo is a good way to see how much you have accomplished on a project and to see if anything needs changing before it is too late. It is about 90% completed in this shot.

sea monster 90 percent complete

I like this shot because you can see the eyes in it. My own eyes are not as good as they used to be so with the photo I was able to see if they looked the way I wanted them to.
