Happy New Year

I am looking forward to beginning a new year. I've never made resolutions. In my 20's I started each year with a list of new ideas and techniques I wanted to learn. New things to experience. It is more fun than trying to give something up. I never understood that particular ritual because most of the people I know who make resolutions end up beating themselves up for not keeping them.

For 2011 I am finally going to do all of the things I have been dreaming about for months. Some of these things I have been studying for a year and an finally taking the plunge into doing them. All of my goals are artistic endeavors and I ordered supplies and tools for them last week. Regardless of my successes or failures I will show you what I am up to as I go along. Who knows maybe you will want to join along on my journey.



I hope the new year finds you healthy, happy and fills your days with laughter. I hope that magic touches us all.

It started snowing last night and it is still coming down as hard as it can. The road we live on is impassible. It is so beautiful!

Purple Mica Shift

In January Premo's new colors will be released. Among the new shades will be purple pearl. I have always mixed my own metallic colors to achieve mica shift. Still, I might get some to play with when it hits store shelves.

I love the mica shift technique. It makes images appear three dimensional when it is actually flat and smooth like glass. My friend Haffina loves purple and I made this purple bunny butt for her.

Tried something new

A bunch of friends signed up for a Secret Santa swap on plurk. Plurk is like twitter only better because you can have actual conversations that are threaded. Anyway, I knew the person I drew had been wanting a fairy door so that is one of the things I made for her.



She has it now so I can finally show it here. I have made several fairy doors over the years but this is the first one I ever made from polymer clay.

Time is flying by

Christmas is next week and am I ready for it? No!



My shoulder problems and subsequent surgery to fix it caused me to start much later than I usually do. I am well known to procrastinate to the last minute for projects.

I have decided that to keep my sanity I have got to just do the best I can and hope people understand. My wish for all of you this holiday season is for it to be as stress free as possible.

Creating again

I am finally able to create again and it feels so good! Cannot show any photos just yet because I am working on a couple of holiday swaps that I am in. Don't want the recipients seeing what it is until they open the boxes. As soon as I get these things finished I will be working on some things I can show photos of. For now I am just happy that the surgery on my shoulder worked and I can now play with clay again.
